I will reach my target weight of 170 pounds by May 1, 2001. In order to reach this goal, I will have to change my eating habits to include fish and vegetables on a regular basis. I need to cut fat out of my diet until I reach my target weight. I need to lower the frequency of red meat intake. I will stick to a healthy, planned diet and allow myself one "fat day" of the week to enjoy pizza, cheeseburgers, ice cream as a reward for sticking to my diet. By May 1, 2001, I will be able to run four miles within 30 minutes. Dedicated practice and perseverance will help me achieve this goal. I will run every other day for 30 minutes and gradually increase my speed. I am starting out on a no-impact machine until I can lower my exercise heart rate enough to be able to run an entire 30 minutes on a treadmill. After two months on the treadmill, I will alternate my runs between the treadmill and pavement. On the days that I don't run, I will concentrate on increasing my flexibility through yoga and swimming. Check my progress here (to be added later).
